Who is the architect behind the Savarin design?
The vision for Savarin comes from the world-renowned British designer Thomas Heatherwick and his team at Heatherwick Studio. This is actually their first major project in continental Europe! They are famous for projects like the "Vessel" in New York and the Google headquarters. For Savarin, they wanted to move away from the idea of a "closed-in" shopping center. Instead, they focused on openness and light. They took inspiration from Prague’s traditional "passages"—the narrow walkways that connect streets—and made them wider and greener. Heatherwick’s design adds modern touches like flowing outdoor staircases and rooftop terraces while still respecting the historic buildings nearby. By working with local architects at AFRY, they ensure the design fits perfectly with Prague’s unique character while bringing a fresh, world-class look to the downtown area. Visit
